Florida Institute of Technology
High Tech with a Human Touch
Message from the Director
Thank you for your interest in Florida Institute of Technology and the National Capital Region site.
Florida Tech is proudly celebrating 25 years of offering master’s degree, graduate certificate and professional development programs in the Alexandria, Virginia area.
Our success and the success of our graduates has allowed for Florida Tech’s outstanding growth in this region. From acquisition and contract management to logistics management to business management, our site offers seven graduate degree programs and 11 graduate certificate programs in a multitude of disciplines and concentrations. For greater details I ask you visit our complete list of Programs. Because of the depth and breadth of our academic offerings, I firmly believe that one of our high-quality programs would be an excellent choice for your graduate study and/or professional development.
Our locations are conveniently accessible. For example, our Alexandria location is just off of the Beltway near the Eisenhower Extension and the Van Dorn Metrorail station, enabling us to serve northern Virginia including Loudon County and Fairfax County. Students attending classes commute from the Pentagon area, the metropolitan Washington, D.C. area, including all areas of the District of Columbia; and also come from nearby Maryland. Florida Tech conducts classes at Quantico Marine Corps Base, Virginia—convenient to Fort Belvoir—and Fort Detrick, Maryland.
Are you a member of the defense acquisition workforce or in a similar position with another federal government agency or in a private company? Are you working on Level I, II, or III certification in program management, business management, cost estimating, financial management, contracting, purchasing, life-cycle logistics, production, quality and manufacturing, auditing, information technology, systems planning or T&E—test and evaluation or transfer and evaluation? A different career path? I have good news! Florida Tech will help you meet the mandatory educational requirements to complete your degree. For those students interested in a new career path, we welcome the opportunity to develop a personalized degree plan for you.
Perhaps you have completed some graduate study at another accredited college or university. If so, we can evaluate your courses to see if you can transfer up to 12-semester hours toward a Florida Tech master’s degree, or up to 6-semester hours toward a graduate certificate. Eligible schools include the Naval Postgraduate School (NPS), the Army Logistics Management College (ALMC), Command and General Staff College, Air University’s Squadron Officers School, and the Defense Acquisition University (DAU).
Our site also offers courses in conjunction with other local universities, such as the University of Virginia, as part of a cooperative graduate degree program. Qualified students may take courses at any of the participating universities and transfer credit. Please contact us directly for the details on this program.
Quality does matter. Florida Tech is consistently ranked as one of America’s best colleges by U.S. News & World Report, and is listed as a “Best Buy in Education” by Barron's.
Please call or visit our Alexandria location anytime. If more convenient, our Quantico office may be able to accommodate your request. One of our counselors will be pleased to meet with you by appointment.
My e-mail address is pbattagl@fit.edu and our primary telephone number is (703) 751-1060. Again, thank you for your interest in Florida Tech.
Sincerely,
